Accounting Manager

 

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Accounting Manager to lead our client’s accounting team in Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who is ready to step into a leadership role and drive impactful change within the company’s financial operations. As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee critical accounting functions, enhance processes, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards (e.g., ASPE or IFRS)
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data accuracy
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to tax regulations and liaise with external auditors during annual audits
  • Identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and effectiveness
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll operations
  • Deliver financial analysis and insights to support strategic business decisions

 

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
  • In-depth understanding of Canadian accounting standards and tax laws
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing financial reporting and month-end close processes
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a passion for coaching and development
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of presenting financial data to diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel proficiency
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
