Senior Accountant

 

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our client’s finance team in Toronto. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional to take on a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. As a Senior Accountant, you will manage complex accounting tasks, support financial reporting, and contribute to process improvements. What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards (e.g., ASPE or IFRS)
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections
  • Support external audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decisions
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and assist in maintaining a strong control environment
  • Stay current on accounting regulations and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance

 

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation required
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and month-end processes
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance
  • Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff is a plus
